History

Craneware is the leader in automated value cycle solutions that help US provider organisations discover, convert and optimise assets to achieve best clinical outcomes and financial performance.

Founded in May 1999 by CEO Keith Neilson and co-founder Gordon Craig, Craneware launched its first product in October 1999 after signing its first customer contract the previous month. By the end of 2000 more than 20 customers were signed, establishing the strong growth pattern that continues today. In September 2007, Craneware listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.

Today, Craneware is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, with U.S. offices in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Needham, MA. Employing over 250 staff, Craneware serves more than one-quarter of all registered U.S. hospitals and is respected as a healthcare business partner known to deliver value, quality, and outstanding customer service as evidenced by KLAS results.

1999

2000

  • First U.S. office opens in Orlando

2003

  • Chargemaster Toolkit® is first product to receive HFMA Peer Review designation

2004

2012

  • Craneware announces its participation in the CMS electronic submission of medical documentation (edMD) Gateway Services pilot program
  • In August 2012, Craneware receives certification from CMS as a Healthcare Information Handler (HIH), joining a list of fewer than 20 to have achieved this status

  • Announces an exclusive partnership with automated payment technologies and services company VestaCare

2017

  • Craneware’s Chargemaster Toolkit® earn HFMA Peer Review designation for the twelfth consecutive year
  • Formation of a new Group company, Craneware Healthcare Intelligence, to develop and market Cost Analytics and Resource Efficiency (CARE) software to the US healthcare industry
  • Launch of the Trisus Enterprise Value platform. This cloud-based platform enables a suite of solutions for healthcare providers to identify and take action on risks related to revenue, cost, and compliance.
